Pruning Season

It’s time, sis. We have arrived at this magical time in our lives where we are old enough to do exactly what we want, wise enough to know that so far, “this ain’t all it,” and young enough to enjoy “it” when we get “it.”
But, and yes, there’s a but, we cannot get it without letting some things go. It’s called pruning. We want clarity without removing distractions, peace without changing our inputs, transformation without release. Dear heart, it does not happen that way.
We have to make space for what we want by actively releasing what we have outgrown. We have to prune the areas of our lives where we want – and need -- to see growth. We must prune our habits, noise (unconstructive and unsolicited chatter), overcommitment (saying “yes” to almost everything), emotional clutter, constant access (by everything and everyone that drains us instead of nourishes us), and people and situations that keep us emotionally unregulated.
And here’s the thing: for some of us, in God’s infinite wisdom, He removes things…and people…from our lives when we hang on far too long. When this happens, it may feel uncomfortable, maybe even sad, because it looks like loss. But what is being removed is the very thing that’s preventing healthier growth. Let it happen and praise Him for it.
After pruning, what emerges is a more intentional you, a more discerning you, a more contained you, a more grounded you, and a lighter you. Pruning primes you for the fruit that you want to bear.
Pruning creates space for clarity, peace, alignment, and for the life you say you want.
Maybe that’s the part we forget: fruit cannot grow properly where everything is overgrown and not everything or everyone is meant to go with you into your next season.
From rest to reign,
Joy
